When Laura was in grade school, her teacher suggested that she join the cross-country team. As it turned out, she really didn’t enjoy running. In high school, she tried throwing as a way to avoid running and fell in love with it. She found the Cruisers Sports and started training with them. She enjoys everything about being a thrower, the structure, the discipline in training and being part of the Cruisers team. “As a thrower it is definitely a thrill getting a new personal best and knowing all the hard work and practice is paying off.” Laura has found something that she loves doing which makes it easy to stay active and keeps her healthy. Sport allows her to become more confident and actively promote para athletics, and gives her opportunities to travel and meet new people. Outside of sports, Laura is an active member of the Girl Guides of Canada since the age of three.
